Such a fun and silly book! I was drawn in by the colorful cover art and cute art style. The book starts out with Dragoslava, Drago for short, and their two friends Quintus and Eztli. They may be vampires but they are also just children who like to have fun.

Drago has been cursed by a witch and forced to do whatever task she gives them, or else they will be turned into worms; the witch gives Drago the task of acquiring a spell book that was taken from the witch from one of her past apprentices. Drago and their friends then set out to Baneberry Falls to retrieve the spell book from the former witch apprentice and when they arrive there they happen to arrive during the time of Halloween, which definitely helps them blend in!

This mission will change everything for Drago and their friends and show them that even after all these years of being a vampire, you can still have new experiences that can surprise you. I love Drago so much, and the way McGrane illustrates Drago's facial expressions cracks me up throughout the book. The end was so heartwarming and wholesome--I just fell in love with this book and was definitely pumped for book two!

I absolutely loved the story with this book! It had so many different elements to it that really got me hooked.

The story features our main character July who has always felt invisible to other people, even her father sometimes. And because of that she has never really had a friend before. That is, until she meets William who needs her help, since she is the first person he has met who can see ghosts. Oh yeah, did I mention: William is a ghost.

July goes on a journey to try and help William, who is actually in a coma presently, but has become disconnected from his body somehow. So the two of them try and solve the mystery of him disconnecting from his body. Why he has been so unlucky throughout his life so far? Along the way William comes up against malicious ghosts who want to eat him, so the two of them have to get William back into his body before he ends up getting eaten by a ghost.

Such a great and fun story that had me crying at certain parts and laughing at others. I really did not expect to love this story so much and was really happy I picked it up!

Being a monster in the world of this story means you are different and shunned from society. So, the monster children at the center of the book, Poe, Rice, and Shelly, are the only family they've got. These three are in hiding and never show their faces in public due to the looming danger of someone spotting them, and monster hunters coming to hunt them down. Poe, the main character, acts as the parental figure for the other two; she's had a run in with the monster hunters as a kid, but was saved by one of them who didn't want to hurt her. Ever since then she has kept a watchful eye on the others and kept them in hiding.

Later on, the kids are left without a home as their most recent hideout is set to be demolished. Risking being seen, they venture out into the world, but are relieved to discover that everyone is dressed up as monster. They're then introduced to the holiday called Halloween, which gives them some protection from the human world as they set out in search of a refuge for monsters that is only a legend. Rice and Shelly are eager to go out and find it while Poe stays skeptical. Masks is a fun book about accepting yourself for who you are and finding the right people to accept you.

This book is so cute and wholesome! I had originally read the second book first Garlic and the Witch, but I don't think it really matters which you choose first; it doesn't disrupts the story at all to start on either one. I highly recommend this book if you're looking for a cute, feel good story that's a nice gentle read to unwind to, with a beautiful art style on top of it.

The story starts out with our main character Garlic, a small vegetable who tends to stray away from danger or stressful situations. She was made by a witch who has made several other vegetable people to help her on her farm. She acts as a guide for the vegetables when they need someone to talk to, which helps Garlic navigate how she feels herself. One day, the vegetables notice smoke coming from the old castle near the town that hasn't been inhabited for several years, since a vampire lived there. Someone must go to the castle and check to see if there is a bad vampire living there who will hurt the townspeople. And that job is given to Garlic. Since she's a garlic, they assume she will have an immunity against the vampire. She must look deep inside herself to find bravery and be confident enough to go up against the vampire.

This is by far one of my favorite graphic novels ever: for sure in my top five. It has such an interesting story that has so many twists and turns, and also touches on figuring out who you are and your gender identity. The art style, character design, and story are all so perfect. This was definitely a gripping story that had me holding my breath at certain points and made me so so happy at the end. I will be reading this book again for sure--I cant get enough of this story!

The protagonist is a girl given the name Snapdragon, thanks to a tradition for the women in her family to name their daughters after their favorite flower. She ends up befriending the old town witch Jacks, who's nothing like Snapdragon thought she would be, having heard about rumors going around town. She ends up coming frequently to her house after discovering an orphaned opossum who needs to be taken care of before they are released back into the wild. Along the way, she discovers that Jacks is a real witch! With this, Snapdragon is introduced to different magical techniques that Jacks teaches her, and about respecting all life, including animals and honoring them even after they are gone.

This is the first of several books in this witchy series! Our main character Effie has just moved in with her aunts after a tragedy hit her family, and leaves her an orphan. Confused, upset, and angry, Effie is welcomed in by her peculiar aunts who help her work through her feelings and come to terms with the loss of a family member. While staying at their house, she notices some interesting things about them and their occupation. Surely they can't only do acupuncture as a job--there must be something more happening here.

Later on, Effie is let in on the their secret: they're witches! She and her aunts must help break a curse that's been put on a big-time celebrity before time runs out. Full of friendship, witchcraft, and learning to control your powers, this book definitely made me want to read more! I cant wait to see what other adventures Effie and her aunts go on in the next books.
